Shane Kilcher and Kelli Kilcher
Shane Kilcher and his wife Kelli have got their hands full working on their homestead. “Alaska The Last Frontier” which is in 8th season has continuously shown their slow and steady progress building a new home. Unfortunately, it came as a devastation to the Kilcher family and a blow for the ” Alaska The Last Frontier” fans as Shane Kilcher suffered a horrible accident, fell from a ladder and broke his back while working on his new home.

According to discovery channel source, Shane broke L2 vertebra, and that the horizontal fracture extends two-thirds of the way through the bone. The complete detail of injury has not been revealed. A video shared by “Alaska The Last Frontier” on November 19 this month shows Shane lying on the bed of Central Peninsula Hospital in Homer, Alaska. Also, his wife with breaking voice and tears in the eyes says Shane fell off a ladder and broke his back suggesting a serious injury.

However, Kelli updated about Shane’s condition nullifying any suggestion to the danger of life.  Through facebook post, she said Shane is doing well but has a long recovery process ahead.

Shane and Kelli Kilcher are high school sweetheart who got married three years into the relationship in June of 1992. Their 25 years of marriage has four children between them.

  1. Dear Shane and Kelli,
My thoughts and prayers are with you as you journey through this life crisis. God is a mighty God and I pray for His healing and that you will see and hear the directions He has set for you. Stay strong in the knowledge that our Lord is with you.

  2. Personally i think it’s another scam from the discovery channel to drive up ratings. Come on first Otto has surgery kelli has MS then Ivan walks off a cliff and now shane falls off a ladder and you show him unconscious in bed with his glasses on. Alaska the last frontier started off as a show about a family living off grid in alaska but that’s not the case. They have electric ,running water, indoor plumbing, welders, grinders they have more then people living in the lower 48 states. It’s all a scam from the discovery channel.

    1. I’m sorry you are such a miserable piece of crap that you feel the need to try to get good people such as Kelli & Shane down to your level. Based on just the glimpse of their lives they have invited us into, I’d feel safe betting you couldn’t walk in their shoes for 60 seconds. Everyone with half a brain cell knows “Hollywood” has put a spin on the show, but what’s your point? Stick to knitting & watching “What not to wear.”

    2. You have to actually watch the show/series from conception to follow the family and the progression of ‘modern’ updates done on the homestead(s). Who is married to who. Who has children. Who is having accidents and surgery. Etc. Shane has a spinal injury…he isn’t in a coma…and probably needs his glasses to see. Please don’t be so negative until you know what you are talking about. Samm Rhette (previous commenter)…people like the UNHAPPY VIEWER need to be educated as to the facts of the show he views! Patience and compassion for trolls and haters! God forgive them and their narrow comments! Blessings to all!

  3. Prayers for you and family. Keep up your
Strong faith it will make the recovery easier
For you and Shane. Your family has so many
People praying for you that I am sure the messages will be received
    ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

  4. How is Shane Now? The show shows him in a hospital bed but hasn’t told us what happened, any surgery and what his recovery will entail and prognosis and plans?

  5. We send both of you our prayers, thoughts & well wishes. The love you have for one another will make it easier as you heal. My husband of 33 yrs now is the reason I am alive & able to walk. My sister & her family live in Sitka & we are making plans for me to travel & visit her & her family for 1 week next summer & then hopefully if possible, we would love to visit Homer. So, if you happen to see a crazy 60 yr old woman, at your fence screaming, please, don’t get your gun, it’ll just be me. Giggle giggle. Get well soon, but don’t push it Shane. Kelli, remember he needs you around for decades to come so take care of yourself as well. From our family to yours, we wish you A very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

  6. There are so many angry people out there. I will never understand cruelty to those in need. Be it in any way, shape or form when someone or something is hurting. To UNHAPPY VIEWER : You have to actually watch the series/each episode from conception to follow the family and the progression of ‘modern’ updates done on the homestead(s). Having made the series for years they can probably afford to update. Otto had surgery to pop his hernia back in and to keep it there. Eivin did not fall off the cliff, Atz Lee did. Shane has a spinal injury…he isn’t in a coma and probably needs his glasses to see. Please don’t be so negative until you know what you are talking about. To Samm Rhette (previous commenter)…people like the UNHAPPY VIEWER need to be educated as to the facts of the show he views! I cannot why he continues to subject himself to such unhappiness by continuing to watch!? Patience and compassion for trolls and haters! May God forgive them and their narrow comments! Blessings to all!
Kelli and Shane….Be strong. Remember family, faith, friends, and fans will see you through! Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!

  7. No mention how his obesity led to the accident. There is no doubt he was an accident waiting to happen. Add long hours and time pressures and this was totally predictable. That man should not be working on a ladder. Period. Hope he recovers. His wife needs him.
