Despite overall progress, however, unequal progress in many ASRHR outcomes is evident both within and between countries, and in some locations, the state of adolescents’ lives has worsened. Girls who are able to stay in, school and remain healthy enjoy a broader range of options, and they are more likely, And, importantly, girls who are already married or in a union need to be supported.

Together, these measures lead to healthier families, higher levels of gender equality and, in turn, stronger societies and more vibrant economies. Data sources: Information on civil registration systems was compiled over a period from December 2016 to November 2017 using the existing relevant legal frameworks and in consultation with CRVS experts, officials within the relevant national institutions, and UNICEF country offices. UNFPA is working with the government to create call centres where people can report child marriage cases.
