General Hospital has been in production for five decades. As a result, it has had a long list of cast members. One of them been Tyler Christopher.
Christopher first debuted on GH on July 15, 1996, after signing a 3-year contract in June of that year. He originated the role of Nikolas Cassadine but failed to renew his contract in 1999. And since his character had become essential to the show, he was replaced by Colton Scott.
However, a few years later he made a comeback. And aside from his role as Nikolas, he also portrayed Connor Bishop from 2004 to 2005. So, did he leave GH again? Is he still married to Eva Longoria? Let’s find out.
Did Tyler Christopher leave General Hospital?
When Scott replaced Christopher in 1999, he held down the role of Nikolas for close to four years. But due to unsuccessful contract negotiations, he left in 2003. And as it would happen, Christopher was available to reprise his former role.
However, eight years later he was unexpectedly fired in 2011. Coincidentally, he was soon set to appear on The Lying Game. But he told Soap Opera Digest that the new show had nothing to do with his firing.
The decision did, however, make him angry since he, “was trying to stay on GH, however that worked out financially.” And since both shows were under ABC, working on them concurrently proved highly possible. But he was told a pay cut was not an option which was odd since it was for others.
He concluded by saying,
“I think I need to move on, so this is it.”
But as it turns out, this wasn’t it for him. Ahead of GH’s 50th anniversary, executive producer Frank Valentini revealed that he met up with the actor. And they discussed the possibility of him re-reprising the role of Nikolas.
Christopher collaborated the announcement when he tweeted,
“So happy to be back on #gh. Amazing adventures lay ahead…”
And on March 22, 2013, he reappeared on the show. Then in June of that year, SOD announced that he signed a contract. However, three years later, he left GH again in 2016 due to failed contract negotiations.
Since then Nikolas is presumed dead. And Christopher has landed a new role on Days of Our Lives. But just like Steve Burton, he might make a comeback in the future. Who knows?
